Google Mobile Apps: Gmail Review!

There are two ways to get your mails on mobile if you’re using Gmail. Either you can use gmail application or if you’re an advanced user you can set up your gmail account by defining settings.

Method 1: You can use gmail app from Google. A nice little application. All the basic features are available and it also supports multiple account so you just need to select your account, refresh it and you can read your mails.

Method 2: Setting up through advanced settings. If you’re using a nokia phone, here’s a way to do it.


Step 1: Go to Tools > Setting’s Wizard

Step 2: Select Email Settings

Step 3: Add your Gmail Address

Step 4: Name Your Mailbox. Comes handy if you’re setting up more than one Email.

Step 5: Add your username and password respectively after step 5. You should start receiving your mails.

You can also do this manually,

  • Settings for Incoming Email
  • Connection Settings > Incoming e-mail >
    Username - “youremail@gmail.com”
    Password - “yourpassword”
    Incoming mail server – “imap.gmail.com”
    Mailbox Name – “Gmail or whatever you have choosen”
    Mailbox type - “IMAP4″
    Security - “SSL/TLS”
    Port - “993″

  • Settings for Outgoing Email
  • Connection Settings > Outgoing e-mail >
    Username - “youremail@gmail.com”
    Password - “yourpassword”
    Incoming mail server - “smtp.gmail.com”
    Mailbox Name - “Gmail or whatever you have choosen”
    Mailbox type - “IMAP4″
    Security - “StartTLS”
    Port - “587″
